Mortgage lenders are generally thought of as such companies as AmeriSave or Wells Fargo who originate the loan with the home buyer. Typically however, these debts are merely initiated by these companies and sold off to specialized home mortgage institutions such as Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. And of course from there, Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae repackage the loan debt as debt bonds which are resold to the public. So, it is interest to consider who the true mortgage lenders are.
